London Airport Authority Gets Approval

London—British government will decentralize its operation of London international airports by setting up an authority system to own and manage Heathrow and Gatwick, Minister of Aviation Peter Thorneycroft said here last week. The Ministry move came surprisingly soon after a parliamentary Select Committee on Estimates recommended formation of an authority on the lines of the Port of New York Authority to streamline operations and cut costs in a report highly critical of financial controls and planning.
