Generally attributed with a capability of 100-mi.-altitude, and 3,600 mph.

London—Four turboshaft powerplants in the 1,000 shaft horsepower class are being developed in Britain for the next generation of rotary wing aircraft. Armstrong Siddelev Motors Ltd. P.181, Blackburn and General Aircraft Ltd. A. 120, de Havilland Engine Co. Ltd. Gnome—which is a license-built General Electric T58 unit—and Napier and Son Ltd.’s Gazelle, Jr., are competing for prospectively big orders both at home and for export.
