U.S. NAVY EYES SLAM UPGRADES

WASHINGTON The Navy and McDonnell Douglas plan to improve the operability and range of the Stand-Off Land Attack Missile under a contract expected to be signed this summer. Under the agreement, McDonnell Douglas will develop a number of airframe and navigational upgrades that can be retrofitted into the existing fleet of missiles, which will then be designated SLAM ERs (for expanded response).
