Aspj Cut Leaves Fighters Exposed

WASHINGTON The U. S. Navy's decision to terminate the AN/ALQ-165 Airborne Self Protection Jammer program leaves its F/A18s and F-14Ds vulnerable to recent-vintage radar-guided missiles until the end of this decade or later. The action was triggered by a report from the Pentagon's director of operational test and evaluation that ASPJ failed to demonstrate the required "measure of effectiveness" (MOE) in combat simulation studies.

Raytheon Expects $3 Billion for Patriots

BOSTON Raytheon Co. has just received a U. S. Army order for more than $1-billion worth of Patriot systems destined for Saudi Arabia and could complete two other international contracts of similar value in the near future. The U. S. Army Missile Command just awarded a $ 1.03-billion contract to Raytheon's Missile Systems Div. on Dec. 23, 1992, for 13 Patriot fire units and 761 Pac-2 missiles for a year-and-a-half delivery cycle beginning in two years.
