Report Describes Rescue Procedure Used in British Helicopter Accident

Communications—The Penzance Heliport frequency 118.1 MHz. was not recorded. It was used by ON from departure until 1114, when contact was made with St. Mary’s aerodrome Air Traffic Control (ATC) on the tower frequency of 123.15 MHz., which is used along the route between the Longships lighthouse and St. Mary’s. G-BEON’s co-pilot carried out the air/ground communications throughout the flight.

Boeing Launches Long-haul 747-400 with Northwest Order

New York—Boeing Co. formally launched the Boeing 747-400 last week following Northwest Airlines' order for 10 of the latest derivative of the wide-body transport. The 747-400s, valued at $125 million each, will be equipped with the new Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine.

Washington—Increased payments by the U.S. for access to the Kwajalein Missile Range became the focus of negotiations between local landowners, government officials in the Marshall Islands and the U.S. last week, while the compact to end the U.S. trusteeship over the Marshalls was stalled by a protectionist trade amendment added in the Senate.
