Advanced Research Simulator Slated for 1981 Operation

Moffett Field, Calif.—Vertical motion simulator being assembled here for advanced aircraft research is expected to be fully man-rated in about six months and become operational in the spring of 1981. The new simulator will be used primarily as a development tool in the areas of flight dynamics, handling qualities and advanced flight control systems for all types of future vertical and short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) aircraft.
