V/stol Design Emphasizes Simplicity

Washington—Grumman Aerospace Corp. is stressing simplicity and versatility in its Design 698 aircraft intended to be a competitor for the Navy’s Type A vertical/short takeoff and landing program. V/STOL-A studies would receive $41 million for multi-purpose, non-combatant aircraft technology in the Navy’s Fiscal 1978 budget (AW&ST Jan. 24, p. 18).

S. military security assistance to friendly nations that engage in torture or other gross violations of human rights will be confronted this session by Congress.
